The selves of which I write are, and can only ever be digital. That is to say virtual. The online world is acting like a kaleidoscope, so to speak. These selves are simply different lenses through which my experiences and my sense of self are filtered.
For example The Artists's "experience" the other night at the Delta will concert. It was not The Artist's "experience" until it was digitized. It is the act of extending my worldly activities into the internet that fractures my normal sense of self. In differing ways and to different extents we are all "digiphrenic."
What's more is that these fractured selves are enhanced and often refined by the way others choose to interact with them online. So we are all participants in not only our own virtual schizophrenia but each other's.
There is of course lots of existing literature on the modern self being fractured regardless of its extension into the web, however, to me this process is much more observable as it deals so directly with documentation that is easily traceable.
It is my intention to create a greater sense of my unified self both on and offline, through consistent observation. As I have already stated this is a therapeutic endeavor for use toward self (selves!) exploration(s). It is not my intention to discover new ideas, only new personal awareness.
Already the selves feel this is an endeavor for their benefit only.
Spiritual Being and The Thinkivist saw some images while The Artist searched for the photo at the beginning of the entry. They insisted each of their image choices be added as well.
